Stuffy Shmitt's "Other People's Stuff" is the best
album you've never heard of, and if "American Idol"
has taught us anything, it's that anyone can become a star,
given the right stage and an audience.
Why not Stuffy? The guy even has talent.
On this album, the singer/guitarist trips through modern
music in an unusual compilation of cover songs that showcase
his gritty, manly voice.
Every song is an acknowledged masterpiece of pop songwriting,
from Shmitt's tequila-charged version of the rock classic
"Wooly Bully" to the quiet hurt of Bob Dylan's "Don't
Think Twice."
The two songs where Shmitt is outstanding are on the old
Stevie Winwood tune "Can't Find My Way Home" and
the Lennon/McCartney number "Across the Universe."
Here's a challenge to Howard Stern or any of the other powerful
tastemakers: Get a copy of this disc and play Shmitt's "My
Babe" - and watch how a career can blossom with a little
exposure.
If no DJ picks up the gauntlet, you can hear "Other
People's Stuff" by going to the source, www.stuffyshmitt.com.
